Sept. 3 – Dragon Con: The Art of the Tiki, a special panel during the 30th annual sci-fi and comic convention in Atlanta. Guests discover how the primitive past of Polynesia influenced pop culture for generations. Moderated by Michael Gordon (Tiki Zombie comics) and featuring artists Shag, Derek Yaniger, Robert Jimenez and Jonathan Chaffin (Horror In Clay mugs).

Sept. 8-9 – California Rum Festival in San Francisco showcasing rums from large, micro and boutique distilleries. The Rum Lab hosts the third annual brand showcase at the SOMArts Cultural Center with industry VIPs such as Roberto Serralles (Don Q Rum, Puerto Rico), Richard Seale (Foursquare Distillery, Barbados), and Bryan Davis (Lost Spirits Distillery, Los Angeles) presenting seminars.

Sept. 9 – Dapper Day Autumn Outing at Disneyland Paris.

Sept. 9 – The Original Tiki Market Place End of Summer Extravaganza in Garden Grove, Calif. Featuring vendors, live Hawaiian entertainment, food, friends, and more at the Garden Grove Elks Lodge.

Sept. 9 – Don’s Tiki Makeke “End of Summer Beachcomber Roundup” at Don the Beachcomber in Huntington Beach, Calif. More than 50 vendors selling their wares, plus authentic Polynesian music and hula dancers, live bands, food and drinks, plus more.

Sept 11-17 – Texas Tiki Week, a celebration of Tiki cocktails and culture in Austin hosted by the local chapter of the United States Bartenders’ Guild. Launched in 2012, the gathering brings together bars, restaurants and brands for an exotic mix of educational, social and philanthropic events. While Texas Tiki Week is centered in Austin, there are satellite events in other cities across the state.

* Kick-Off & Hurricane Harvey Relief Party on Sept. 11 featuring an all-start cast of sponsors.

* The Making of a Tiki Mug on Sept. 12, a seminar by John Mulder of Eekum Bookum, creator of the 2017 Texas Tiki Week mug.

* Exotic Cocktails and the Cult of the Tiki Bar on Sept. 12, an all-encompassing seminar hosted by authors Martin and Rebecca Cate, founders of Smuggler’s Cove in San Francisco.

* The Grog Party Bus on Sept. 13, a tour of six Austin bars featuring unique takes on the Navy Grog.

* A seminar with the “Minister of Rum,” Ed Hamilton on Sept. 14 featuring a tasting of his acclaimed Ministry of Rum Collection.

Sept. 15-17 – Southern Surf StompFest in Atlanta featuring three days of free instrumental surf and rock events. Friday’s kickoff party at Trader Vic’s features Aqualads, Dangling Tassels, and The Racket Squad. Saturday’s main event at Little Tree Art Studios includes the Aqualads, Genki Genki Panic, The Mystery Men?, The Out of Limits, El Capitan & The Reluctant Sadists, Rondo Hatton Band, Caroline & the Ramblers, The Reverburritos, The Surge!, and DJ Dusty Booze. Sunday’s after-party at The Burnt Hickory Brewery features Genki Genki Panic, The Mystery Men?, and The Out of Limits.

Sept. 16 – Makahiki: A Night of Tiki in Indianapolis, Ind., featuring music, cocktails and live entertainment including 13 Tikis, DJ Johnny Yuma, The Troubadors, Roland Remington, and the Hoosier Haoles. Another charity event presented by the Fraternal Order Of Moai and its Pukapuka Chapter. Proceeds benefit the Southside Animal Shelter.

Makahiki: A Night of Tiki

Sept. 17 – Surfin’ Sundays at the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum. The finale of the free, all-ages summer concert series at the Huntington Beach Pier in Southern California. Featuring Outerwave, A Frame, Ramsey Brothers, Thee Swank Bastards, Secret Samurai, VooDoo Surfers, and Black Ball Bandits.

Sept. 21 – Blue Hawaii Elvis at The Mai-Kai in Fort Lauderdale. Dan Cunningham performs a dinner show on the main stage at the legendary polynesian restaurant for the first time, showcasing the sounds and style of Elvis from the Blue Hawaii era along with several Mai-Kai dancers.

Sept. 29-30 – Vienna Rum Festival in Austria featuring tastings of international rum brands, classes, live music, food and cocktails.

Sept 30 – New York Rum Festival is the first event in the Big Apple from The Rum Lab, presenter of the California Rum Festival and Midwest Rum Festival. There will be samples of 40 rum expressions poured at S.O.B’s (Sounds of Brazil) in lower Manhattan. Also featuring industry VIPs such as Jaiker Soto (Don Q Rum, Puerto Rico), Richard Seale (Foursquare Distillery, Barbados), and Bryan Davis (Lost Spirits Distillery, Los Angeles) presenting seminars.

Sept 30 – Hidden Harbor mug release featuring an exclusive design sculpted by Crazy Al Evans and appearance by the artist at the Pittsburgh neo-Tiki bar. A run of 100 limited-release mugs will be available, plus there will be an auction for those unable to attend. The full release from Tiki Farm will be announced.

Sept 31-Oct. 1 – Forbidden Island’s 12th Annual Parking Lot Sale at the Alameda, Calif., Tiki bar featuring vintage collectibles, mid-century decor, classic artwork, ceramics and retro-fashions. Includes 27 vendors plus DJs Otto von Stroheim (Saturday) and Tanoa “Samoa Boy” (Sunday), food truck, and more. Live music by Insect Surfers after the sale on Sunday.

Sept. 2 – Unsteady Freddie’s Surf-Rock/Pop Shindig at Otto’s Shrunken Head in New York City.

First Thursday – Otto’s Grotto at Forbidden Island in Alameda, Calif. Tiki Oasis mastermind and DJ Otto von Stroheim spins his favorite exotic tunes.

Sept. 12 and 26 – Coconut Club Nights at Clifton’s Pacific Seas in Los Angeles. A mystical evening of elaborate Tiki-inspired cocktails, delicious plates and amusements.

Third Wednesday – Primativa in Hi-Fi at Otto’s Shrunken Head in New York City. DJs Jack Fetterman and Gina of the Jungle spin the best exotica, lounge and cocktail music.
