Land of Broken Promises from the Old Dogs mix by JC Dwyer. Inspired by Scott Burns' epic Morrisound mix, it's beefed up and more defined but doesn't stray too far from the original sound. Voice of Reason from the New Tricks mix by Jamie King, who brings a face-ripping modern edge to the classic EP.

Scott Burns was absolutely instrumental in the way Terminal Reality turned out. In fact, we learned many recording and mixing lessons from him that became permanent fixtures in the RA sound. Scott retired from Morrisound in 1997, but the legendary Tom Morris was happy to help us contact him. He was glad to hear from us and kindly contributed liner notes for the Anniversary Reissue! Here's just a small sample of what he had to say: Raped Ape's Terminal Reality was one of the best demos I ever recorded. The guys were all great musicians who came in well-rehearsed and ready to record. One great thing they were able to do in the studio was play the songs live and TIGHT. The whole thing was pretty much live except the vocals and the solos. It is awesome to hear the remixes and to think it has been 30 years. JC's new mix really jumps out and sounds even better than the original. The arrangements stand the test of time. As the intro to 'Who's in Control' says, watch you might get hooked." - Scott Burns, 2023 This is only about 20% of Scott's full statement, which is loaded with detailed historical and technical insights. Pick up the Reissue to get the rest, and lots of other goodies too! NEW: See photos of Raped Ape recording Terminal Reality in 1992
The initial idea for this reissue was to celebrate Terminal Reality's 30th anniversary and give the mastering a fresh coat of paint. But when we told Matt Rudzinski at Divebomb Records that we still have the reels and that they're in good shape, he suggested we do a full remix. We've always wanted to revisit Terminal, so we were immediately onboard. We sent the reels to Thin Brown Line Studios, where Matt's buddy David Ollard specializes in rescuing and digitally transferring old reels. He baked them for two days in a special incubator to re-stabilize the tape, transferred the tracks to digital files, and we were off to the races. Once the tracks were transferred from the original 2-inch analog reels over to digital files, the remix process began with Jamie King Audio once again. Jamie is the go-to mix guy for most of the Divebomb releases and handled the excellent remastering of 2013's Land of Broken Promises compilation, so we all knew he was the man for the job. Jamie engineered and mixed from his studio while JC worked on editing and additional mixing from his Little Big Bros. Studio, with input from Pooch. It became apparent early on that we were going to have two different visions for the mix. Jamie specializes in remixing older recordings the way most metal sounds today, while we were going for something a bit closer to the OG sound of Terminal and the band. Rather than try to compromise on a middle ground, Matt thought it would be more fun to take both ideas out to their fullest potential, and that's how we ended up with two crushing new mixes: "Old Dogs" is JC's vision for the mix, and it really captures the classic RA sound. It's sonically reminiscent of Scott Burns' epic Morrisound mix, but bigger, badder and more defined thanks to modern digital mixing advancements and 30 years of hindsight. "New Tricks" is pure, uncut Jamie King fury! A tight, punchy, face-ripping modern take on Raped Ape's finest hour. If you've ever wondered what Terminal Reality might sound like if it were recorded in this day and age, this mix may very well answer your question.
