THE AWARDS

The Slammie was an award unlike any other: A heavy ceramic skull with the winner engraved on a nameplate on the forehead. When bands and musicians walked away with this honor, they joined a short list of some of the top names in the South Florida alternative-metal-punk-hardcore scene of the 1990s. All voting was 100 percent fan balloting.

Following are all the winners, listed by category. The number of awards was reduced in later years.
